Who will be the DJ at my event?
Robert Searcie, owner-operator of Electric Black DJ & Karaoke Services, will DJ your event. In the event that he is booked, you will be referred to one of his 2 partners who have the exact same music as he does.

How extensive is your music library?
Our MP3 collection covers music from the 1910s to the current hits of today, no matter which radio station you listen to. The standard playlist consists of nearly 166,000 titles that we bring to every event. We belong to 3 DJ pools.

What kind of equipment do you use?
We know that most clients don't care as long as the equipment is presentable and works. We use state-of-the-art computers and equipment. We have Pioneer® equipment, Denon® mixers, BBE® sonic maximizers, DBX® equalizers, compressors, and limiters, Peavey & Crown® amplifiers, and JBL®, Mackie®, and Yamaha® speakers! We realize that most of our customers don't care what equipment is what, we guarantee it will be loud enough and clear enough during your event.

Can you provide references?
Yes we do! We provide a list of testimonials and vendor references at the initial presentation.

How far in advance do you accept booking requests?
In most cases, clients submit their request 1 to 24 months in advance of their date. But we've been known to take events as late as the date of an event! Of course, we prefer as much time as possible to plan the perfect event!

What is included in the booking packet?
The booking packet includes the booking agreement, planner form, and lots of helpful planning information, which includes ideas for songs, planning tips, a vendor/reference list, and even a sample timeline.

Can we meet our DJ in advance?
Prospective clients are free to schedule phone/online or in-person consultations with the owner Robert Searcie to discuss their event before signing any contract. If he's already booked on the day of your event, you can meet one of his handpicked partners on the phone or in person if you would like prior to signing any contract. If you're unable to meet in person, then we can have a phone consultation. Typically, we meet potential clients in a neutral location or go to their home. For obvious reasons, we do not allow prospective clients to sit in on events. This is disrespectful to our clients because it is their event, and it is generally frowned upon in the DJ community.

What is your backup policy?
In the rare event of an emergency, a qualified backup will take the place of your assigned DJ at your event. If the emergency is an amplifier or the music, we always carry spares so that the event will not be disrupted for long. Please see our booking agreement for more details.

What are your payment & booking terms?
In order to secure our services, a minimum of 50% of the agreed price retainer (installment) must accompany your signed contract. For installment options, your balance is due the day of your event. If the same date/time period is requested by more than 1 client, then bookings are based on the date one of my highly qualified will receive the signed contract and payment. We accept checks, certified checks, money orders, or cash for payment; however, we are in the process of accepting credit cards and checks via PayPal™.

When is my contract due back?
When you submit your deposit to us, the contract is due in order to secure your date.

Can you hold my date for me?
Once we have received the signed agreement and the deposit has been paid, yes, your date is secure.

What is your overtime policy?
If you decide to extend the length of your event, the cost is $95 per hour. This must be paid to your DJ prior to the start of the overtime period.
